Drake Bay, Costa Rica, on the Pacific Ocean near Corcovado National Park and Cano Island is a dream. It is a rare thing to have reality exceed your expectations, but Drake Bay is one of those places. Drake Bay will surely make any traveler's short list of the most beautiful destinations on the planet.
You can fly to and enjoy world class lodging, some of the earth's most pristine and abundant rain forests, an ocean teeming with whales, dolphins and marine life, the unsurpassed peace and serenity of being surrounded by tropical flora, birds and animals, yet so remote there is no telephone land line!
You can do Corcovado and Cano Island tours, whale and dolphin watching, scuba and snorkeling, hiking and bird and animal watching.
When you do scuba diving at Cano Island you can see humpback whales breaching, mommies with babies, bottle-nosed dolphins, and underwater: sharks, morays, huge schools of jacks and dog snappers and a rare and unforgettable sight, purple and white clown shrimp, among the most beautiful of all marine creatures.

On land you become totally in tune with the sounds and sights of the rain forest. You meditate with the relaxing Plantares Beach surf and you listen to squawking red macaws and green parrots, and eerie howler monkeys.
You will never be bored at Manuel Antonio. There are different excursions for every day of the week. You will discover new exotic rain forest animals and plants every day you are here.
When you go into the Manuel Antonio rain forest and you enjoy viewing white-faced monkeys, sloths, falcons and frigate birds, frogs and snakes.
One of Costa Rica's most spectacular coastlines is in the Bahia Ballena National Marine Park, near Uvita. You look down the coast to the Osa Peninsula and up the coast to Uvita's famous "Whale Tail Reef" jutting into the Pacific Ocean.
Bird lovers bring your binoculars! This place means fiery-billed aracari, which is one of the most colorful and beautiful of all toucans with its bright orange beak and rainbow of bright yellow, red and blue plumage.
The Pacuare River is Costa Rica's most famous rafting river and one of the planet's top five rafting rivers. Primary rain forest grows right down to water's edge. The intense green jungle canopy towers hundreds of feet overhead. You paddle through class III, IV and V rapids.
One of the most memorable Costa Rica experiences is exploring a cloud forest and learning first-hand the differences between rain forests and cloud forests. Less than three percent of the planet's cloud forests remain today.
You immediately see the unique characteristics of a cloud forest where all trees are covered in thick moss and huge green ferns sway in the thick fog. Each cloud forest tree hosts as many as 150 different species of flora.

Nicaragua
Just across the Nicaraguan border you'll want to check out laid-back San Juan del Sur and Madera surfing beach on the Pacific Ocean. Surfers congregate at this surf Mecca from around the globe for the reliable offshore winds and first-rate waves.
Beaches and challenging waves make your stay a memorable.
