majestic worldtravel at tikalGuatemala - They have already been to Rio Dulze, Tikal and Lake Izabal and Flores. Now they are in Antigua. The Majestic World team has had a great time in Guatemala so far.

They sailed across Lake Izabal and all the way to the legendary Garifuna Caribbean Port of Livingston. Las Sirenas Excursion took them to spectacular jungle hot springs, a beautiful scenic swimming site with jungle canopy towering overhead and Mayans paddling by in hand carved canoes.

Ashore the team explored the San Felipe Fort, and the hiked in the jungle and farmland surrounding the area. They saw blue morpho butterflies, black orchids, red parrots and toucans in the lush green wilderness of Rio Dulce and Lake Izabal.

lake izabal hot springs guatemalaThe next stop for the Majestic World traveler team was Tikal. Tikal is on the short list of the worlds most impressive and beautiful destinations. The view of the Mayan temples transports you back in time and makes you wonder about this exceptional mysterious culture and what they accomplished so many centuries ago.

Exploring the Tikal temples is as exciting as visiting Machu Picchu or the Temple of Karnak at Luxor. The team saw toucans, crested guans, agoutis and leaf-cutting ants, dozens of spider and howler monkeys up close - mothers carrying babies and babies hanging by their tails and playing. Tikal encompasses one of the most diverse and thriving ecosystems on the planet with the majestic Mayan temples rising high above the jungle canopy.

Tikal has no rival anywhere for experiencing the excitement of close-up jungle animal and plant life along with the intense spiritual and dramatic historical presence of the superbly excavated Mayan ruins

After climbing up and down the pyramids and walking in the Tikal National Park, the team found a great nearby place, the Tikal Inn to rest and enjoy nature, put up their feet and see and listen to the sounds of howler monkeys, parrots, wild turkeys and a myriad of colorful butterflies, snakes, lizards and insects right outside their room.

lake peten guatemalaThe next stop was the island of Flores, at Lake Peten, The Majestic Travelers got spoiled at the Hotel Peten Esplendido with impeccable comfort, a first-class restaurant, and the best views of Flores with its tuc tucs and hand-dug canoes.

The island of Flores was the very last Mayan stronghold against the Spanish. Hernan Cortes came to Flores in 1541, but thought better and left off invading. Mayan motifs are ubiquitous on Flores and today's Mayans display intense pride in their Heritage

You walk around the island admiring the colorful wooden ferries and you'll never forget the sun setting into Lake Peten.

Greener Guyana
I would like to make a few comments about your projects: I think it is a good start and a powerful tool in alleviating poverty around the world. While it will take some time to really see the results- like many others, I've not heard about this project before. I live in Guyana, where the many thousands of Amerindians and a good number of other nationalities are poor people. I've seen people from interior locations traveling long distances in search of a better life. These people are very capable craftmen and women in their villages and yet they do not seem to have much success in selling their handicraft as no one visits their locations. Can we find a way to reach them? There are many factors such as high transportation costs, Guyana's unknown status, and the logistics of getting into the remote areas of the Rupununi. Maybe your project can help bring awareness and much needed exposure to Guyana- the lost land of the Jaguar.
Respectfully,
Richard

Dear Sirs,
Perhaps your project should include , (1) saving Guyana' s rainforest and (2) assisiting with sustainable tourism for the Amerindians.
Firstly, I would like to garner more interest and more support in making "a Greener Guyana" a reality. Our President has sought support from the UK and we are still to see the result from the recent talks. I for one would support such action toward this and hope that more people will be aware that we are a poor country and our rainforest is going to be cut down before too long. This would result in a planet in worse shape ; the poor people in the interior will be devastated.
Secondly, there needs to be more awareness on the part of people who have travelled to beaches around the world for more times they can remember, to realize that by visiting they should also look for newer destination such as our country to visit especially in interior location where the poor Amerindians have been trying hard at sustainable tourism. These excellent craftsmen and women cannot get their craft sold because there are no tourists to buy!.
Finally, maybe this year will be a better year even in the face of economic crises, and the project managers can visit our country soon.
Regards,
Richard
