Guatemala -The main attraction of Alvaro Coloms Presidential agenda was his focus on social programs for Guatemala's disadvantaged population usually located in poor rural indigenous areas.

The idea was a good one, the program is called Social Cohesion and it provides a monthly stipend for poor families to send their children to school and to get regular check ups at local health clinics. The goal is to increase school attendance and the health of the children and their families.
